Treatment for leg pain during pregnancy osteopathy case studies from Sheffield, South Yorkshire and Derbyshire
Lisa
Lisa had tried different forms of complementary therapy in the past; mostly with very positive results. So when she started to suffer from pain in her leg and hip about six months into her pregnancy she had no hesitation in seeking out appropriate treatment.
"I was pregnant and due to go on holiday where we would be walking around a lot. I really wanted to be mobile and active but was having pain that came on after walking for only about an hour".
As Mandy explains, "Most people have slight imbalances in their body, for example one side could be more flexible than the other. During pregnancy these imbalances can become intensified. One side of Lisa's body was less mobile than the other. The muscles supporting her more mobile side got tired after an hour of walking, causing Lisa pain."
Mandy's focus in treatment was to balance the two sides so that the muscles didn't have to work so hard.
Lisa was amazed, "I went to see Mandy because I know it can work. After just one session, she had cured the problem. I tested it before I went on holiday by walking into town and back and I had no pain at all. So on holiday I walked for hours and hours and even went bike riding. It was really great to be so mobile".
