Treatment for hip pain during pregnancy osteopathy case studies from Sheffield, South Yorkshire and Derbyshire

Joanne

Joanne was about 20 weeks pregnant when the pain in her hips and pelvis became such a problem that she sought Mandy's help and treatment. Her mobility was impaired especially when walking up hills, and she was experiencing a lot of discomfort at night.

"Mandy really looked at my body and assessed how it moved; then the treatment she gave me helped the pain in my hips and also relieved the pins and needles in my hands. At my third session, she did something with my ribs that released the pain in my pelvis, and it also enabled me to take a proper deep breath for the first time in ages".

During pregnancy the additional physical burden of the growing baby can highlight unresolved problems in the body. Osteopath Mandy Redmond explains, "Joanne had been in a car crash three years previously which gave her back and neck problems. In addition, both tibia bones in her lower legs were twisted. These areas didn't hurt but they didn't work as efficiently as they could".

Joanne's abdomen and pelvis were in between two "problem" spots. Add a growing baby, and her abdomen and pelvis were in trouble. Mandy's treatment was aimed at resolving the problems from the car crash and her legs, giving her abdomen and pelvis more room to manoeuvre.

Joanne says "The Practice is a very friendly place and I really appreciated the way Mandy took the time to assess my whole body not just the areas that were causing me discomfort".

After four sessions with Mandy, Joanne had no hip pain or niggles of any sort and was able to be much more active during the rest of her pregnancy.

"I felt totally different and better mobility-wise; I could walk up hills and upstairs quite easily. I would definitely suggest seeing Mandy to anyone else with similar problems as I have had such definite benefits from her treatment. I walked into The Osteopathic Practice in pain and walked out pain-free and quite sprightly actually!"
